Dear friends, kind strangers, and fellow wanderers.
Six years ago, housing became unaffordable on my limited income. I made a difficult but transformative choice—I moved into my car. At first, it was just about survival, but over time I realized it was also a calling.
Living simply allowed me to follow a path of quiet wandering, like a mobile Buddhist retreat. Driving all around the country. I deepened my awareness of the world, of suffering, and of connection. I began offering presence, prayers and help to others wherever I could, knowing I couldn’t do everything—but I could do something.
Now, after six years and over 250,000 miles, my car is aging fast. It’s no longer sustainable or safe. I need a new vehicle—not just to get around, but to live in. I’m hoping to raise enough for a reliable, long-lasting van that can serve as my home and base for continuing this path of retreat and service.
If you feel moved to support me, whether with a donation or by sharing this with others, I’d be deeply grateful. This isn’t just about a van—it’s about a home and continuing a life of purpose, simplicity, and service in a way that may be of benefit to this world and the beings within.
If there is another way you would like to offer assistance, would like to connect or have any questions, please contact me at: [email protected]
With heartfelt appreciation,
Robin Ösel
